Columns done in marble in Peoria home.

We finished out project in Peoria on Monday. This was a tough job as it was a new construction. No electricity. So no hot water to wash brushes and no heat. We also had to deal with other contractors hammering and playing different music all over the house. We decided to work Christmas day and the day after to avoid them. This helped. You need things to be calm when your trying to create art.
Please check out the photos. It was hard to get good ones as the sun was bright Monday afternoon but I am sure you can tell the beauty of this marble faux.

New Project in Peoria, AZ

Well it is good to stay flexible in this business because it is subject to change in a moment. For the most part it is not our doing but we want to keep our customers happy so some bending is sometimes necessary. The cabinet project got postponed so we moved in our next project. Four 10 foot columns in Peoria. We are hoping to start this on Friday. Kerri is still trying to get control of a horrible cold so we will see how the week progresses. Any one who has met Kerri knows of her energy and just sitting is not something she is does.

We finished our Project in Sun City West. We were very grateful for the perfect weather we needed to finish it. We had Manny Martinez (resident handy man)  fill in all the holes left in the concrete pillars and primed them. We then came in and did the marble faux. Kerri worked hard on these for a client who knew what he wanted. He and his wife were very pleased with the finished look.

Hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Danny caught a cold and has now passed it to Kerri so the current project is a bit more difficult than usual. We are working for a lovely couple in Sun City West. Only an hour commute each way for us. We will have photos to share this week.

Antonelli Scottsdale home

We finished up our project in Scottsdale. This two week project consisted of a watermark master bath and bedroom, a marble accent wall in the master bedroom, and a metallic powder bath. Notice how well Kerri matched the colors of the tile in the powder bath with the metallic glaze. Also the marble accent wall looks like a piece of stone even on the Arizona knock down texture.

Our girl in action and some views of the finished theater room. This treatment was a first for us. Plaster was applied to the walls first, then painted, additional plaster was added, walls were glazed in a mushroom color, and last some accent plasters and color glazes. The look is real old world. Stunning to see in person.

Here is the finished project in Scottsdale. We are still working on the theater room. Should be finished tomorrow (Friday). We are really happy with the way this turned out. We added a little more mocha color to the bricks to bring out the cabinets and under bar supports.

We are close to finishing the  breakaway brick faux on the bar of this Scottsdale home.  Here Kerri is putting the finishing touches on a section of bricks. Each brick has to be painted then Kerri adds veins with a feather to give it that cracking wall look.

We completed our Vestancia project. Here is the powder bath done in a one pass mocha glaze and then Kerri added some enhancements as only she can do. Here is before and after pictures. We also did the outlet covers on the Kitchen back splash. By the before and after you can see It makes such a big difference. We are still meeting with people from the home show so please call if we can be of service, so we can get you scheduled.

Here is a before and after of a stove hood we did today. I say we cuz I helped a little. Kerri did all of the metallic work herself. The home owner commented that her husband wanted a statement made when he walked into the kitchen. Mission accomplished! Vestancia is an hour away from us. Yes we will travel to make your home beautiful.

We are back to work this week. Doing a stove hood and a powder bath. Pictures to come!
We had some interesting times Saturday at the home show this past weekend. The rain managed to flood the building we were in. Fortunately it didn't hit our booth. It made it hard to get to our cars as the parking lot was also flooded. Out came the Sun on Sunday and the home show crew working through the night got the water out. We had a great turn out and met with lots of people. The Home show coming up in January is a big one so put in your request for tickets early.

Chandler home

We just completed a dinning room in a soft one pass glaze and the ceiling  was done in
what we call a watermark faux. It's sometimes referred to as a Tea Stain. The whole room was painted in a jakarta color. Then the walls were glazed with a mushroom colored tint. We added just a touch more yellow to it to warm it up. The ceiling had the same colored glaze minus the extra added yellow and it was done in a watermark fashion. Photos of this type of faux make the veins stand out allot harsher than they are in person. We usually recommend this type of faux when large areas are to be done. It's the most bang for the buck. It's beautiful and yet only requires the one pass of glaze. Glaze, for those new to faux, is a translucent type of product that can be tinted to achieve the desired color. Since it doesn't fully cover the paint or other glazes beneath it so you get a layered effect. The water based product also dries to a hard cover of what is underneath. This helps in cleaning. We will sometimes use a clear glaze to a specific area just to protect it.

Faux marble ceiling in Fountain Hills home

It's been a tough hard week. Besides this huge entry ceiling we are also doing a powder bath, 3 niches, and two rope columns. This ceiling required scaffolding and several layers of paint and glaze to finish. The original faux someone did of a monsoon sky was not to the color pallet of then new tile. The new Fountain Hills home owners have completely gutted this home and are starting from scratch...inside and out! I would also like to add a shout out to Manuel E. Martinez Vessi. If you ever need a handy man, call us. We know the best. Manny (as we call him) laid the tile on this 5000 square foot home as well as many other projects. Having worked with Kerri for over 8 years I gotta say this is some of Kerri's finest marble work. The pictures don't do justice to what looks like a real marble stone ceiling. Wait till you see the pictures of a large niche she did. More to come as we finish this project next week.

Danny here blogging for Kerri. We have been going on appointments and trying to catch up on the paper work of running a business. Kerri is also working on our breakfast nook. She never rests. We plan on starting a big project next week in Fountain Hills. For this weekend we plan to enjoy family and friends for the Labor Day holiday. We hope it's a long and fun weekend for you all.

There are so many things that take place on and off the job site. I will share these as well as other things that take place in the life of a faux painting artist.
